Well I am finally doing it. After fifteen years of talking about it and longingly perusing travel mags I have signed on the dotted line. Preparations are in full swing right now, I have booked my flight, I get my jabs in a couple of weeks and then it is off to Istanbul on the 11 March for the start of an overland journey that will in the fullness of time take me all the way to Australia. Along the way I will travel through Syria, Jordon, Egypt, Iran, India, Nepal, across the Himalayas into Tibet and China, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia. Despite pictures in magazines, sitting here in my house in Cambridgeshire it is hard to imagine the sites I will take in along the way. I intend, if I can, to record my progress in this BLOG. We shall see how that pans out.
